C3PO iPhone Dock finished

Ive been looking for an iPod dock for a long time and all the ones ive found have been pretty lame or just not really my style so i decided to make one of my own.

I decided on using something Star Wars related since im a total SW nerd. I finally settled on the Epic Force C3PO figure as the means by which to accomplish my docking goal.

I had looked at using some of the old Micro Machines Playsets but none of them really fit with what i was trying to do while remaining streamlined in the process, they were all kinda bulky more or less.

I had originally intended the use the arm of C3PO to hold the top of the phone in place but after messing around with the balance of trying not to damage the original base toy much i decided to just keep it as close to original as possible. I did cut the leg out of the hand and glue it to the base anyhow cause it looked awkward with the leg part dangling there. I wasnt concerned about the value of the toy or damaging it really i just wanted to make sure there werent tons of visible destruction marks or places that had empty slots of such cause it would look ugly and unfinished.

Overall all you need to do this is a ipod/phone usb cable, a 7/32 drill bit, exacto knife and super glue. Its super simple and anyone can do it in about 30 minutes.

Just lay the connector part of the usb cable that plugs into the phone on the base and make some marks to show where to cut the hole. Drill out the ends of the hole first and then make a few more holes in between your marks and then cut the rest with the exacto. clean it up with the exacto take the plug and glue it in. Reassemble and bam there ya go.
